ARCHITECTURE About James Cooper Studio James Cooper Studio is a small design practice with an extensive network of collaborators versed in the building trades. I take a very practical approach to offering architectural design services to my clients. My attitude toward the practice of architecture might best be understood through a quote given me by the teacher and architectural theorist Richard C. Cordts. Cordts quotes John W. Gardner: "The society which scorns excellence in plumbing because plumbing is a humble activity, and tolerates shoddiness in philosophy because philosophy is an exalted activity, will have neither good plumbing nor good philosophy. Neither its pipes nor its theories will hold water." That is to say, I regard architecture as a humble activity which should be practiced in a workmanlike manner.
